Park Ridge – Residential

Oshawa, Ontario

Begun in 1998, the development of the 600-acre (243 hectares) Park Ridge community brought neighbourhood design to a new level in Oshawa, a city 25 miles (40 kilometres) to the east of Toronto. The development consists almost exclusively of single-family homes constructed by Tribute Communities and townhouse units constructed by Ballantry Homes. The total number of these residences is approximately 2,000.

In addition to its multiple parks and school sites, the community is built around a number of large ravines that contain tributaries of Harmony Creek, a major watershed in the area.

The City of Oshawa built and operates The Legends Centre, a $40 million community recreation centre within the neighbourhood. The Legends Centre houses a large swimming pool, several ice rinks, a library and community meeting rooms. In addition, the Durham School Board purchased a 13-acre (5.3 hectares) parcel of land from Metrontario and built a secondary school in the community which opened in 2008.

Draft plan approval for 340 single detached lots was received in September, 2015.
