Construction of the Candy Factory Lofts was completed in 1999. Originally built in 1909 as a factory in the west end of downtown Toronto, the building features a brick exterior and some brick interior walls with original wood floors and ceilings, douglas fir and yellow pine beams and columns.

The 5-storey structure of 250,000 square feet (23,250 square metres) plus 1 floor of basement space was converted to 121 condominium loft units. The building and certain of its units have been used for a number of movies and commercial shoots because of its unique architectural character.

The Candy Factory Lofts has been described in the media as the quintessential example of what a loft conversion should be. One of the most challenging elements of the conversion was the structural support of the entire 250,000 square foot (23,250 square metres) building while excavating the basement underneath it, to construct 2 levels of underground parking.
